Of course I’m heavily biased because my dad used to build these things

Well I won’t argue. It’s in my top five.

It’s neat, but it ain’t no King (Queen, whatever).
Of course, I’m heavily biased because these look beautiful.

Also, I disagree. How many kills does the Tomcat have?

Wing goes forward, wing goes back. Wing goes forward, wing goes back.

The F-5 would like to have a word with you.

And yet it is not the undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. According to Wikipedia (and other sources) the F-15 is 104-0 as of 2008.

And my dad used to buy them (worked for the Dept. of the Army).

I always used to hate the F-14 for some reason (I was an F-16 fan, so it was sort of like Miata vs GT-R). That’s not to say I’m not in awe of it. The fact that we called that behemoth a “fighter” and put it all over our aircraft carriers is pretty amazing. And to be fair, it was sort of ahead of its time in avoiding dogfights and striking from a distance with the Phoenix missile. I feel the same about the F-4, which got a lot of guys killed in Vietnam, but still a really cool plane.

Dat wing hinge tho. Amaze.

A friend of mine worked on these when he was in the military. We lost one over Libya, but it was officially “mechanical failure.” Could also be why the “as of 2008" bit is listed. They might have just not said it’s still true like reddit’s warrant canary.

What’s that? A plane post, and no Ultimate Blackbird? Let me help you out:

Well, it could have been mechanical failure...

I actually love that plane, but I pretty much love all planes; except the f-35.... I hate that thing.

I don’t buy that, the veracity of Soviet Air-to-Air victories comes into question.

On the other hand, the Germans being shot down were known for being pretty meticulous in their record keeping.
